Adler fall to HC Lugano in Overtime
The Adler Mannheim suffered a 4:3 Overtime loss to HC Lugano in the Champions Hockey League. HC Lugano has secured first place in Group C. The Adler still have a chance to advance but they are in a must win situation against Tampere on Sunday night. Goal Scorers for Mannheim were, David Wolf, Ryan MacMurchy, and Marcus Kink. Alessio Bertaggia, Damien Brunner, Patrick Zackrisson, and Linus Klasen scored a goal apiece for Lugano.
David Wolf drew first blood for Mannheim while on the power-play halfway through the First, 0:1 (10 minute, man-advantage). Midway through the Second Alessio Bertaggia tied the score, 1:1 (30 minute). Six minutes later Damien Brunner put Lugano in the lead with a power-play goal, 2:1 (36 minute, man-advantage). Three seconds before the end of the second Ryan MacMurchy retied the game, 2:2 (40 minute).
Early in the Third Marcus Kink brought the Adler back in front, 2:3 (44 minute). In the last minute of regulation play Patrick Zackrisson was able to tie the score, 3:3 (60 minute) and send the game into Overtime. Linus Klasen shot the game winner for Lugano, 4:3 (63 minute).
The Adler will remain on the road on Sunday, 11 September when the play a Champions Hockey League Game against Tappara Tampere. The Adler must win this game to advance in the Champions League. The puck drops at 18:00 and the game is viewable on live stream by Laola1.TV
Kassel Huskies vs. Adler Mannheim 5:4 (1:2, 4:0, 0:2)
Adler lose preseason game in Kassel
The Adler lost their preseason game to the cooperation partner the Kassel Huskies by a score of 5:4. Adler Head Coach Sean Simpson had to mix things up as many Adler players were away playing for the German National Team, Simpson had only three lines available for the game. Mannheim lost the game in the Second Period when Kassel scored four unanswered goals.
Goal Scorers for Mannheim were Matthias Plachta (0:1, 5 minute), Mathieu Carle (0:2, 16 minute), Daniel Sparre (5:3, 46 minute), and Jamie Tardif (5:4, 59 minute). Goal Scorers for Kassel were Andre Geratz (1:2, 18 minute), Manuel Klinge (2:2, 25 minutes, 4:2, 28 minutes), Brett Wysopal (3:2, 27 minute), and Braden Pimm (5:2, 30 minute, man-advantage).
The Adler will be on the road on 7 September to play a Champions Hockey League Game against HC Lugano.
Denis Reul Out for Two Weeks
Due to an injured arm, the Adler Mannheim will be without Denis Reul for approximately two weeks. Due to the injury he will also be unable to participate with the German National Team as they play for Olympic Qualification
If Reul will be available for the Champions Hockey game against Lugano on 7 September is dependent on the healing process.
